George John Halaney Jr., fondly known as John, of South Padre Island, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 26, 2020 at the age of 64. John was a loving father of Brandy A. (Robert) Benthal, Andrew J. (Sydney) Halaney, and Autumn R. Halaney; grandfather of Luke N. Benthal and Alyssa G. Benthal; whom he shared with his former spouse, Kathy L. (Zimmer) Halaney; dear brother of Lloyd J. (Dee) Halaney, Sharon M. (James) Turk, Mary “Patty” P. (Keith) Scheibler, Kathleen A. (Theodore) Hays, Margaret “Peggy” F. (Bob) Davis, and Christine “Tina” M. (Steve) Ziegler; John was born in St. Louis, Missouri and is preceded in death by his beloved parents George J. Halaney and Margaret M. (Newton) Halaney and brother Richard “Lonnie” L. Halaney. He leaves behind numerous friends as well as nieces and nephews who brightened his life, and we will always carry his memory in our hearts.
John served four years in the United States Air force and was stationed in Clovis, New Mexico. John worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for many years as an aviation technician and at AT&T as a communication technician. He was an amazing person who touched the heart of all he met, full of laughter and fun, and a wonderful companion. John was an organ donor and has enhanced the life of many others through this act.
John frequently visited his sister Patty’s property in Fredericktown, Missouri, where he found solitude in nature among family and friends. His life will be celebrated on August 15, 2020 at this property where he will be laid to rest near his favorite cat fishing spot.
