Mark Lynn Dunham 1950-2020
Mark Lynn Dunham passed away on January 10th 2020 in South Texas; his final days were spent with his loving wife Vicki by his side and surrounded by family and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife Virginia Zavala Dunham, brother James Dunham and family, children (and their significant others) Lynn Emily and Zach Walter, Michael Grier and Ale Dunham, Aimee Marie and Mike Scott, and Karin Jo and Geoffrey Simelaro. Mark was greatly loved by his 8 grandchildren Megan Elizabeth, Kamryn Marie, Stella Amirah Marie, Hayden Major, Olivia Mae, Remy Dunham, David Patrick, and Mark Landon.
Mark was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is the oldest son of Donald Bobby Dunham and Virginia Jones. His childhood was spent with his brother James, playing sports, riding skateboards, playing wiffle ball, and causing a touch of trouble. “When we were younger we played with our little rubber army men, built forts, and pretended to be at war. I guess it was pretty serious as I almost lost a finger in one attack, brotherly love!” One of the most meaningful time periods in his life is the years he spent with Horace and Juanita Williams in Enid, Oklahoma. He says of his time with them, “I learned a completely different way of life, one that would shape my success in the future...so many wonderful wonderful memories about these two and what I experienced living and working for them.” As he grew older, his dad Bob Dunham became his best friend.
Mark graduated from Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma and worked in the apparel industry most of his life. He found success working for Haggar Slacks, Farah Slacks, and Big Yank before starting his company 3G in Guatemala. Vicki and Mark have many fond memories of their time in Guatemala and built lasting friendships. Mark’s last years were spent working with Vicki managing La Concha Condominiums in South Padre Island, Texas. He spent a great deal of his time with his adoring grandchildren, his close friends, and loved frequenting their favorite restaurants on the island.
Overall, Mark was a committed friend, husband, and father who lived each day to the fullest. He once said he was a morning person but he was notorious for taking the party to the next level. He loved golfing (with friendly wagers a necessity for any golf game), sailing, coke freezes, his vodka, watching ANY sport that is on TV, fishing, traveling, good food, looking good, and smelling good. If you couldn’t smell him from three rooms away then you knew he hadn’t arrived yet. To know him was to truly love him because there was no other way to be in his life, there was no halfway with Mark Dunham.
